Tenuta di Tavignano “Cervidoni” Rosso Piceno 2017: Marche, Italy

Grapes: Montepulciano/Sangiovese

Region/History Notes: Most people know Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. The region of Abruzzo lies just South of the Marche Region on the Eastern coast of Italy. In Marche, Montepulciano is often blended with Sangiovese to create a lighter style red blend that is one of the best “house red wines” ever. This is a 70% Montepulciano, 30% Sangiovese blend that is unoaked and meant to be drunk fresh, young, and often!

Tasting Notes: Hints of smoke and dried herbs with leather, spice, roasted red plums, and grippy minerality. Super delicious and food-friendly! Great with just about anything on your table from cheese and charcuterie to honey-baked ham to burgers or pizza. It is the best Monday night wine ever!
