Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc: Western Cape, South Africa
Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc
Region/History Notes: South Africa has a reputation for delicious and great value Sauvignon Blanc but not necessarily sparkling Sauvignon Blanc. This is the first one I have tried and now I will look for them everywhere it is so delicious! This wine farm has roots dating back to the 1600’s making it the oldest registered farm in the cape. Graham Beck purchased the winery along with the hotel and restaurants attached in 2005 and revitalized the whole project. It is now a premier food and wine destination that focuses on sustainability like many South African wineries.
Tasting Notes: Bright, fun, and festive. Looking for the perfect bubbles to serve with brunch? Look no further! This is breakfast wine baby!
