Prisma Pinot Noir 2019: Casablanca Valley, Chile

Grapes: Pinot Noir

Region/History Notes: If you cross from Mendoza, Argentina into Chile you will run right into Casablanca. While further North than most other Chilean wine regions, it is one of the coolest wine regions due to the morning fogs and thicker cloud cover making it perfectly suited for Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes: Candied pink strawberries are layered with smoky brambly fruit like raspberries and blueberries with a distinct herbaceous aroma akin to cooked mint. Black pepper and green bell pepper along with a leathery undertone round out the palate, and just the slightest appearance of cinnamon on the finish shows the oak the wine was aged in- but the show is all about the fruit! Lovely everyday Pinot Noir and a great lighter style red to pair with salmon off the grill or smoked turkey.
