Region/History Notes: This 300 acre vineyard called “La Renjardière” dates back to 1880 when Joanny Dupond moved south from Beaujolais to expand his family’s estates into Rhône. The vineyard lies just to the North of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has an abundance of gallets (rounded river rocks) that make Châteauneuf-du-Pape so famous. While the terroir and climate are similar, because it lies outside the official boundaries of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, it is classified as Côtes-du-Rhône and this is one of the best values!
Tasting Notes: Juicy dark fruits on the nose with hints of dried herbs, a black pepper spice, and the juiciest plums you can imagine. All concrete aging keeps the freshest style of red wine that goes with just about anything you are serving. Côtes-du-Rhône like this are the best reds to serve to just about anyone!
