Region/History Notes: Let’s break down some of the information on this wine label. Piesport is the village in Mosel where the vineyard, Michelsberg, is from the ‘er’ means that the wine is ‘from’ that village. Spätlese is the term that indicates how ripe the grapes were at harvest- this is pretty ripe! So the fruit flavors of the wine will be more pronounced. You can also tell how sweet a German Riesling will be based on the alcohol content. The closer the wine is to 7%, the sweeter it will be. The closer the wine is to 12% the drier it will be. This wine is on the sweeter side but not like a dessert wine- just perfectly sweet and fruity!
Tasting Notes: Mosel just make spectacular Rieslings! The peach, apricot, and grapefruit are so delightful on this wine which is a perfect pairing to spicy foods.
