Fossil Point Rosé 2020: Edna Valley, California

Grape: Grenache

Region/History Notes: While many producers in the cool climate region of Edna Valley focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Fossil Point is experimenting with Rhône Varieties like Grenache and Syrah. Their Chardonnay is delicious, don’t get me wrong, but I am so impressed with this rosé of theirs. The influence of the foggy, maritime air keeps the wines elegant and structured. All their fruit is hand harvested and sustainable, they take great pride in “making the wine in the vineyard” by cultivating the healthiest possible vines.

Tasting Notes: Citrusy notes like grapefruit and tangerines are layered with strawberry and melon flavors. The finish is bright and refreshing without being too tart. Perfect pairing with margherita pizza, turkey burgers, or lox.
