Grapes: Cabernet Franc
Region/History Notes: Andrew Jones, winemaker, can do no wrong in my book. Pét Nat (short for Pétillant Naturel) is a style of sparkling wine that undergoes only 1 fermentation instead of the typical 2 for sparkling wines. Check out my YouTube video on the process for more info. Pét Nat is always unfiltered and sealed with a bottle cap and meant to be consumed fresh and young (and often!). Since it's a little geekier, less well known than typical sparkling styles, and funkier, this is the perfect conversation starter for you Spring grill outs and wonderful to share with friends who prefer beer or ciders.
Tasting Notes: Best nerd-wine ever! Wild apple notes with bitter grapefruit, pink strawberries, and pear nectar abound on the palate. The mousse is light and soft and there is the yeasty flavors so characteristic of Pét Nat. All that flavor with only 11% abv so go ahead and finish that bottle and open the second!
