Domaine Léon Boesch White Blend 2019: Alsace, France
Grapes: Pinot Blanc/ Riesling/ Silvaner/ Pinot Gris/ Muscat
Region/History/Producer Notes: While Alsace is now well wishing the French border, it has gone in between German and French hands 13 times over the centuries. It is more Germanic in culture, language, food, and wine styles than the rest of France. Instead of the typical French grapes, more Germanic styles of grapes are grown here. This baby is a blend of 5 total grapes in a fresh, easy-drinking style. I love that it is in a liter size bottle- you will definitely be grateful there is an extra glass and a half since it is so delicious.
Tasting Notes: Lime zest with melon rind and delicate floral notes. The wine has the texture of Pinot Blanc, the complexity of Riesling with little sprinkled hints of Pinot Gris/Silvaner/Muscat throughout the palate. Pair with salty fresh cheeses, prosciutto wrapped melon, Greek salads, or smoked salmon.
