Region/History Notes: The Cru of La Livinière is known for producing the finest wines in Minervois and sits at about 300m (~1,000 ft). The higher elevation adds to the depth and complexity to the wines produced here due to the elongated growing season. Scrubby limestone based soils with scattering wild rosemary and lavender are known as “garrigue” terroir and sets La Livinière apart from the rest of Minervois. This blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache is organic and biodynamic and is aged in concrete and tank- no oak, so the wine remains fresh and fruit-driven.
Tasting Notes: Feminine, silky, and floral, this wine is a delightful expression of the softer side of Syrah which makes up 70% of this blend. Red fruit dominant with notes of geraniums and wild roses are woven throughout the wine. Dusty tannins and fresh herbs give the wine structure and lift. The wine is altogether lovely!
