Badia alla Corti Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2018: Abruzzo, Italy

Grapes: Montepulciano

Region/History Notes: For the last year, the only Montepulciano I have featured has been from the lesser known region of Marche, Italy (to the North of Abruzzo) and is blended with Sangiovese. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is actually the region and style that put the grape on the map though! Known for its easy-drinking and crowd-pleasing style, you can now usually find this type of wine on any Italian wine list or wine shelf. While they are not known for being the most elegant or sophisticated wines, they are charmingly rustic and food friendly.

Tasting Notes:  I love how easy to drink and enjoy this wine is and it is now my go-to wine for serving when I am having  cheese & charcuterie for dinner on movie night.
