I got to meet owner and winemaker, Guiseppe Brancatelli in 2018 and fell in love with his estate, his easy going personality, and oh my god, his food!!! Chef turned winemaker, he makes his wines with food in mind first and it shows! I haven't had a chance to taste through his higher-end selections side-by-side since visiting his winery and am so excited to do so again in this mini-class!
If you haven't been to a mini-class before, these events are shorter only because we serve all the wines at once, so you have 4 glasses in front of you! Mini classes are all about exploring the subtle nuanced differences between wines. You can go back and forth between the different wines and see how they are strikingly similar, and how they vary drastically glass to glass. This is the absolute best way to develop your palate!
PS: "Super Tuscan Wines" is a term used to describe wines from Tuscany that do not adhere to the traditions of the region. They explore different grape varieties, especially Bordeaux varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. And they experiment with more international styles of winemaking. Come taste and see how SUPER these wines really are!

One of my favorites for years, but this vintage has outdone all the rest! Bold and plush but still totally approachable, this is a Cab that can pair with anything from pork chops to beef stew!
Brancatelli "Valle del Sogno" Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc 2017 $87
Stunning wine that showcases the riper side of Super Tuscan wines with notes of red currants, chocolate covered cherries, leather, and a woodsy structure. Velvety tannins and beautifully balanced, this is a delight to drink!
Brancatelli "Guiseppe" Syrah 2017 $84
The more masculine, savory side of Super Tuscan wines, this Syrah is laden with pepper, smoke, and olive flavors that are deep and sultry. Perfect with braised meats served with mushroom gravy.
Brancatelli Petit Verdot 2016 $69
My personal favorite of the three higher-end selections, partly because it is so different! Aromatics that jump out the glass and hit you in the face with purple flowers, licorice, black cherries, and cocoa powder! As the wine opens up, more blue fruits like blueberries and pomegranates develop and there is a lifted herbal quality that is almost mentholated in a beautiful way! I can't wait for this class just so I can taste this wine again!!
